In the midst of the dark night symbolizing the time of every sin, God shows the continuous work of redemption through the word that does not rest. It was a lawless wilderness and world of violence that sparked all kinds of lawlessness, murder, robbery and cruelty; it was a dark, gloomy, and suffocating night. In the middle of this night God made known the work he had done in the history of mankind; the work of God’s night. The praises tell us this is a “silent night.” They call it a “holy night.” The reason is because on this night “the Lord Jesus was born.”
